But I am a professional flutist, and even with the sound turned up LOUD on many, I cannot hear them over my playing. (Flutes are a WHOLE LOT BIGGER in sound than many people think -they are used to hearing kids.) So - I got a Korg MetroGnome. Fits in my ear. Plenty loud enough for me to hear. I've worn earrings that are heavier - this is maybe a half-inch wide, and an inch and a quarter long. You can clip it onto a chain, because it is easy to misplace. Heck - you could start a fashion trend among serious players - like say players who NEVER remove that neck strap - and wear it all the time you are in class between practicing.
