Digital Metronome

Using a digital metronome with your music lessons will greatly enhance your ability to bring a regular beat and better timing to your musical strengths and abilities. At first it will probably be hard for you to get used to playing your music to the rhythm of digital clicks and keeping up with the beat.But after a few sessions and some practice you will probably find that once your relaxed and become familiar with using the digital metronome your rhythm and timing will greatly improve!

The speed of the metronome is set to the personal preference of the musician. When Learning a piece of music it is probably best to slow the speed down until the music is mastered and all the notes a played perfectly. Then the speed can be changed to whatever is felt to be the right tempo, maybe 2 to the bar or 4, whatever the musician feels to be the correct way to play the music to an audience and the best way to bring the musicians creativity across and to express themselves.

Ways to improve your music skills by using a digital metronome

Repeated use with a metronome will help you memorize the piece of music and improve your rhythm. It will help you keep the beat throughout the piece of music

It will help you become familiar with the music quicker so you can settle into the feel of the music

You will get a good feeling of the pulse and energy of the music. The music can be ruined by an unsettling or incorrect tempo which causes bad accents and the wrong beat for the music. Using the digital metronome will help the music playing by finding the underlying pulse/tempo of the music which gives it it’s feel and life.

The digital metronome is a really effective tool that a musician can use to greatly enhance their playing!

There are numerous ways that the metronome can really advance a player’s musical ability and flair, the most important being it improves and builds confidence within the musician, especially for the beginner. After practicing a piece of music daily with the metronome, a player feels greater confidence and security when performing to a live audience.

Metronomes will also help you with your ability to listen to the music. With constant listening practice the click of the metronome will help you keep in time with the music and also give you the feel of the tempo that is needed to make the music sound right.

It goes without saying that your listening will be greatly improved by playing in a band with other like minded musicians but using a digital metronome whilst practicing will do you no harm and will greatly improve you musical skills
