...years later (it's now 2010) I just wind it up and it keeps my tempo just as well as it did 24 years ago.

One thing, special, that I always appreciated is that it lists the bpm (beats per minute) for all the classic Italian tempo terms: Largo...Adagio...Allegro...etc., and gives you the range. Printed handy, right there on the face. Did you know that when I'm healthy, my heart beats at a steady Largo: 40-60bpm

It is loud enough to hear over the sound of the piano, but it isn't obnoxiously loud. I didn't really need a compact model, but I choose this one anyway because it had good reviews on other sites and it was less expensive that the larger models.
